Pertussis Requirement
6th Grade Science Camp DecisionTo our 6th Grade Families: You might have heard that Brownell will not be having a Science Camp this year. This is true. In fact, none of the three middle schools will be sponsoring a Science Camp. But it isn’t because we do not want to. We consider Science Camp a wonderful educational experience for our students. But, with continual budget cuts, school days slashed and more put upon teachers with less and less compensation while expectations continue to rise, an endeavor as time consuming and expensive as Science Camp just isn’t a feasible activity for the middle schools to take on. Our Parent Club is very disappointed but also somewhat relieved as they have become more a Science Camp Club then a Parent Club. And we do have two other grade levels and teachers that they wish to help and support. We are always optimistic and have hope for the future, but it is dependent on the financial solvency of the State and budgets of Gilroy Unified.
